Kayakshed & Sandalshed SEO Updates

Launch Date: 11.25.2009

Kayakshed & Sandalshed SEO Updates

Both Kayakshed.com and Sandalshed.com got some serious SEO updates this fall and are looking better than ever with new site architecture, brand landing pages as well as clean and user friendly URLs.

Locus reconfigured architecture of the site to place products in their own brand directories. Rather than having all products in a single location in the architecture, placing them in locations based on brand adds additional keywords in the URL and makes for a better overal user experience.

Additionally we stripped session variables and page extensions from URLs resulting in clean, easy to read and highly search engine optimized URLs for both sites.

The resulting URLs went from something like this:

http://www.kayakshed.com/prod/arcteryx_womens_sidewinder-ar_jacket.cfm?Sale=0&CategoryID=116&BrandID=37

To this:

http://www.kayakshed.com/arcteryx/arcteryx-womens-sidewinder-ar-jacket

Not only did products get special SEO treatment but product categories got organized and dressed up a bit:

http://www.kayakshed.com/shop/womens-jackets

And each brand got their own directory and spruced up brand landing page:

Wyeast Laboratories

Launch Date: 7.18.2007

Wyeast Laboratories Its no secret that residents of the Pacific Northwest are a bit partial to their micro-brews. Start a conversation on Napa Valley vs. The Columbia Valley and be prepared for a long and tough discussion. With all the fine brews and wines in the area it is no wonder that one of the largest yeast suppliers in the world is located in the Hood River Valley. The new Wyeast Laboratories website (www.wyeastlab.com) hosts a wide array of content for commercial breweries and wineries, brew shops, and home enthusiasts. Locus consulted with Wyeast on the content architecture to cleanly organize a navigation structure for the content. Funk/Levis provided the graphical look and feel, and Locus integrated it with a robust set of functionality including a custom content management system, multi-relational yeast strain database, customer log-in to order, and a targeted newsletter sending tool for each type of customer.
